Green meetings at the Hofburg Vienna

The Hofburg Vienna team is at hand to help you secure certification for your event. The Austrian Environment Ministry and the Association for Consumer Information have defined a set of requirements that organisers need to fulfil in order to acquire the Austrian ecolabel (Österreichisches Umweltzeichen) for their meetings. At present certification is open to congresses, conferences, meetings, corporate events and fairs.

In 2010 the Hofburg Vienna played host to Austria's first ever certified fair: ACCESS, the leading fair for congresses, meetings and incentives. Simply contact a member of the Hofburg Vienna team to find out how to qualify.

Checklist

Some of the basic requirements for acquiring the Austrian ecolabel (Österreichisches Umweltzeichen) are outlined below.

  • A certified licensing officer must be commissioned to monitor all aspects of the event.
  • The event must comply with the provisions of regulation UZ62 and acquire a minimum number of points. 
  • The event organiser is responsible for presenting proof that the minimum number of points has been achieved, but these must be coordinated with and submitted by the licensing officer.
  • Certification costs EUR 700-5,000, depending on the scale of the event and amount of work involved.
