Wiener Kongresszentrum Hofburg Betriebsges.m.b.H. is the operator of Hofburg Vienna (HV). Events held on the premises of the HV are subject to the laws and government orders applicable in Austria, including the provisions of the Wiener Veranstaltungsgesetz and the Wiener Veranstaltungsstättengesetz (Vienna Events and Vienna Event Venue acts), and all regulations arising therefrom must be complied with. These house rules apply to all visitors to Hofburg Vienna, event organisers and their employees and all persons and companies contracted by said visitors or event organisers or by Hofburg Vienna.
1. Visitors to Hofburg Vienna must behave in a manner that does not endanger, harm, obstruct or harass any other person. Admission to the premises in paper costumes, and with air balloons or other objects which could endanger the safety of visitors or cause damage to the premises is prohibited. Igniting sparklers or other pyrotechnic items, or bringing in objects made from fragile, splintering or particularly hard materials (especially bottles, beakers, jugs or cans) is prohibited. It is also prohibited to bring in any type of weapon. This includes, in particular, firearms, knuckle-dusters and knives or other stabbing weapons (including antique weapons) unless permission has been obtained from HV. Visitors must behave in a manner that ensures maximum protection of the fabric of the building and inventory while on the premises of the HV, and must use the inventory in accordance with its intended purpose.
2. All visitors are liable for any damage caused by them, including damage to HV's premises, furniture and art works, in accordance with civil law. Hofburg Vienna accepts no liability whatsoever for accidents involving visitors to its premises beyond that imposed by the relevant statutory provisions.
3. The entrances, access areas and premises are video-monitored for security reasons.
4. In addition to the prohibition on bringing in weapons of any kind, it is strictly prohibited to bear weapons (unless HV has given permission to do so) and to bring in or consume drugs on the premises of HV. Upon admission or in the event of justified suspicion, HV reserves the right to search clothing items worn and receptacles and objects brought in by visitors.
5. Persons who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, persons who riot or violate the rules of public conduct or in any other way breach the provisions of the Wiener Landessicherheitsgesetz (Vienna Provincial Security Act), the Wiener Sicherheitspolizeigesetz (Vienna Security Police Act) or the Strafgesetzbuch (Criminal Code) will be denied access to or expelled from HV premises.
6. Bringing animals on to the premises is not permitted. This excludes blind dogs and assistance dogs for disabled persons. Owners of such dogs must present a disability ID or pass and proof of the dog's training on entering the premises. Blind and assistance dogs must be kept on a leash and wear a muzzle.
7. It is prohibited to bring food and drink on to the premises.
8. Wheelchair users (and any accompanying persons) must be positioned in the areas provided for them and must be informed of the escape routes for them before the commencement of events.
9. Coats, umbrellas, and large bags and receptacles (such as backpacks or suitcases) must be deposited in the cloakroom. Prams must be placed in the areas reserved for them and may not be brought into any other parts of the premises of HV. In the event of the loss or damage of deposited items, any liability on the part of the operator of HV is excluded.
10. Lost property must be handed in to reception. HV sends items which are not collected to the lost property office responsible within seven working days.
11. Smoking bans under the Tabakgesetz (Tobacco Act) as amended must always be observed. Smoking on HV premises is strictly prohibited, except in designated smoking areas. The operator accepts liability neither for infringements of any smoking bans, nor for damages incurred or injury suffered by the Contractual Partner or third parties due to smoking.
12. The premises must be kept clean at all times. Non-urgent cleaning work which creates a disturbance may generally not be performed when visitors are present. Lighting, including emergency and any additional lighting, may not be switched off before all visitors and employees have vacated the premises (unless said employees perform a necessary permanent service).
13. Escape routes, emergency exits and transportation routes must be kept clear at all times. Escape routes and emergency exits may only be used in case of emergency. HV reserves the right to remove any vehicles and objects that have been unlawfully parked or placed in or in front of HOFBURG Vienna's premises at the expense of the person causing the obstruction.
14. It is prohibited to change or rearrange any of the furniture provided, e.g. sofas, tables, decorations and art works, and in particular any safety equipment, and tamper with technical equipment.
15. Children under the age of 12 may only use the lifts if they are accompanied by an adult.
16. Unless an exception has expressly been made by HV for a given event category or event, photographing, filming and producing audio recordings is prohibited on the premises. In the event of an infringement of the above provision, HV reserves the right to request the person found in possession of the equipment with which photographs, films or audio recordings have been made to delete the latter, or to confiscate it until the situation has been clarified.
17. All sales activities and the distribution of written materials or goods of any kind are prohibited in the immediate vicinity of HV and on HV's premises. Opinion polls and/or surveys require the prior consent of HV. Displaying posters and distributing flyers, etc. in front of the entrances or the façades of the building and on the premises is prohibited, as are rallies and demonstrations. A minimum of EUR 150 will be charged as lump-sum compensation for each instance of flyposting or the distribution of pamphlets.
18. For safety and hazard prevention reasons, visitors are obliged to follow the instructions of the stewarding and security services. Any notices posted in HV's rooms and access areas, such as access prohibition signage, must be precisely complied with.
19. In the event of safety hazards or fire, supervisory and security staff must be informed immediately, and their orders and announcements complied with. If the alarm sirens are activated the premises must be vacated via the closest escape routes. Assistance must be given to endangered and injured persons.
20. In the event of infringements of these house rules or of clear indications of likely infringements, HV reserves the right to request the identity document of the person concerned in order to record his/her personal details and to bar such person from the premises, as well as to forward such details to the police; refunds will not be given for used admission tickets.
