"Our homepage is much more than a virtual calling card for the Hofburg Vienna; news and download services add real value for our customers and partners," explains Managing Director Renate Danler. The latest addition to the site is a virtual tour. From 15 July users will be able to explore the individual halls and meeting rooms of the former imperial residence at the press of a button. A collection of about 50 indoor and outdoor panorama shots taken by photographer Reinhold Leitner (Cupix 3D Webfotografie) gives visitors a detailed insight into the facilities that the conference centre has to offer.
Thanks to the easy-to-use navigation, virtual visitors can enjoy 360° views and zero in on details such as ceiling paintings and parquet flooring using the zoom function, or admire the images in the full-screen view. "Users can move through the virtual world in three dimensions, gathering a true-to-life impression of the state rooms and contemporary glass and steel constructions," adds Mrs Danler. Interactive functionality enables users to switch effortlessly between images of conferences and banquets. Users can browse key data as they move through the individual rooms, including capacity and possible layouts, to help them plan and present future events at the Hofburg more effectively. "Multifunctional plans also give prospective event organisers a sense of where they are in the building as they take the virtual tour," explains Andreas Spannbauer of pixelpoems who is responsible for the webpage. Visitors can move from room to room and click their way through the different floors.
"The virtual tour is our response to demand from new customers who are looking to gain a quick and easy overview of what the Hofburg Vienna has to offer as an event centre. It also caters to returning customers who require instant access to detailed information as they plan their events," says Mrs Danler. Every month the Hofburg Vienna website is accessed around 30,000 times, a number that increases to around 50,000 at peak times. Around 20-25 percent of users have accessed the Rooms section of the site. The new service tool is expected to increase traffic on the site by five to ten percent.
