Ecology

  • The protection of the environment and climate are essential if we wish to preserve a good quality of life for ourselves and for future generations. We operate a green policy based on the principle of "avoidance before recycling before disposal".

Our current focus: energy, climate, recycling and knowledge building.

In the field of energy we:

  • have lower commitment of energy due to 95 percent of daylight in meeting space
  • use eco-friendly energy by 100 % hydraulic power throughout our premises.
  • make effective use of energy-saving lamps. (LED technology)
  • are committed to water-saving measures.
  • have a green IT policy. (e.g. low-energy PCs and printers, energy-efficient storage and cooling of the server system)

In the field of climate protection we:

  • have a natural regulation of temperature due to the ancient building. (thick walls)
  • help minimizing pollution caused by transportation thanks to the central location of Hofburg Vienna.
( 7,500 hotel beds are available in walking distance)
  • have air conditioning with individual room temperature controls.
  • monitor our carbon output to improve the efficiency of the air conditioning.
  • attach great importance to the use of local and seasonal produce by our caterers.

For optimum recycling we:

  • operate a waste separation programme in our office and support areas.
  • employ biodegradable materials for our housekeeping and events.
  • encourage our caterers to use reusable glassware and crockery.
  • have a corporate waste management concept.

For knowledge building we:

  • advise our customers in the field of eco-friendly event management.
  • support our partners with innovative ideas for climate protection.

For the future we:

  • plan to reduce the electricity consumption of appliances in the standby mode.
  • are completing our central lighting control system.
  • will be implementing energy-saving projects, employing phase compensation to achieve savings of 10-15 %.
  • will implement measurement of the carbon footprint per event.
