Taking the creative lead
The Hofburg Vienna will play host to a series of eye-catching events from the worlds of science, business, culture and the arts in the coming months, so the event business at Europe’s leading venue will be in full swing. The large number of new conference bookings for 2017 was a particularly notable success. The planning for a number of exquisite banquets and receptions is under way, and we are also looking forward to a busy autumn exhibition season. “Auditory experiences are playing an increasingly important role in the rapidly changing event sector. Taking the creative lead is an integral part of our outlook for the future,” emphasises Managing Director Alexandra Kaszay.
A varied autumn scheduleThe 2016 event schedule includes a diverse autumn programme. Medical specialists from a variety of disciplines will be attending events such as the Austrian Dentists’ Congress from 22 - 24 September 2016 with more than 1,200 participants, the World Congress on Cancers of the Skin between 30 August and 3 September, and the 10th European Congress on Emergency Medicine from 2 - 5 October 2016, when the Hofburg will play host to some 1,500 delegates. Meanwhile in November, the 14th Austrian IT and Consultants Day will bring together the who’s who of the Austrian business scene. With a host of exhibits on display, Art & Antique Hofburg Vienna from 5 - 13 November is an annual highlight in the art calendar. Wine lovers will take their places in the state rooms for the exclusive Falstaff Red Wine Gala on 22 November 2016, while 2,500 guests from 45 countries will bring the curtain down on 2016 at the HOFBURG Silvesterball. Our event technologies do not just come to the fore at conferences and meetings – outstanding super-sized projections, live broadcasts and special effects will also shape the design for our New Year’s Eve highlight, making for a dazzling and thrilling experience once again.Let’s waltz! - “The Rhythm of Vienna”Themed “The Rhythm of Vienna”, the HOFBURG Silvesterball on 31 December 2016 kicks off the ball season. After the formal opening of the Grand Staircase, the state rooms will host a spellbinding opening ceremony, followed later by a glamorous midnight show. The unforgettable midnight production plays out against the backdrop of the ringing of the Pummerin bell at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the traditional Blue Danube Waltz and a spectacular firework display over the city. The popular public quadrille never fails to get ballgoers on their feet, and countless big-name orchestras and bands will call the tune in the Hofburg state rooms. This year’s programme will bring top-class performers from the Vienna State Opera and Volksoper, as well as catchy rhythms spanning a full range of genres from waltz to jazz to the magnificently decorated rooms. A variety of tickets, ranging from dance-only Circle Tickets to Grand Tickets including four-course New Year’s Eve dinner and champagne at midnight, are available now.The 2017 event calendar reflects the diversity of the coming carnival season, with a total of 19 exclusive and traditional balls. The Viennese ball season has a proud history dating back more than 400 years. Each year the Hofburg welcomes over 60,000 ball guests from all over the world as they dance the night away.Preview of 2017Whether it’s long-term bookings or short-notice enquiries, demand for conference slots at the Hofburg Vienna is extremely strong – especially in the association business and the large-scale congress segment.“We’re particularly pleased that the Festsaal will host the dinner for the International Association Congress, which takes place from 2 - 4 May,” comments Managing Director Alexandra Kaszay. Bookings were recently made for two additional conferences next year. The congresses held at the Hofburg in 2017 will have a distinctly scientific feel. Highlights in the first part of the year include the 38th International Vienna Motor Symposium (27 - 28 April) with over 1,000 participants, and the Congress of the European Hernia Society (23 - 27 May), where scientific and clinical topics related to patient care will be on the agenda. One of regular events returning to the Hofburg Vienna’s state rooms in 2017 is the Pioneers Festival 2017 (1 - 2 June). 1,000 medical specialists will descend on the Hofburg in mid-June for the annual meeting of the Bavarian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Austrian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (14 - 17 June).Autumn will see a host of internationally renowned conventions, as well as new exhibition formats – Design District 1010 will lead the way with a particularly promising concept. The treasures on display at Art & Antique Hofburg Vienna 2017 (4 - 12 November) are a magnet for connoisseurs of the finer things in life. Exquisite banquets are also on the schedule – the Romy Gala (23 April) will see a who’s who of the Austrian and international film scene make their way along the red carpet into the Hofburg’s state rooms.Smart event formatsDemand for outstanding equipment has risen significantly, and the Hofburg Vienna is continuously investing in technology such as lighting and sound systems, as well as stage construction and set-up. The technologies behind the latest large-scale media facades and multimedia effects for rooms have evolved rapidly, as has the range of possible applications. Conventional and digital experiences are merging. Especially in terms of trade fair and exhibition architecture, multimedia elements can influence visitor behaviour both consciously and subconsciously. In future, an even greater range of options for the interplay between architectural spaces and multimedia components will become available for smart conference and event formats. In modern auditoriums, the goal is to connect as many different levels of experience as possible, in order to create synergies that enhance communication. In our view, the fairs and conferences of the future will involve an increasing blend of elements from these types of event format. There are signs of a shift away from general trade fairs to specialist fairs, with a strong focus on high-quality face-to-face contact with visitors. The motto for the coming years is customer focus.InformationHOFBURG Vienna, Heldenplatz, 1010 ViennaT +43 (0)1 5873666, F +43 (0)1 5356426E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org, www.hofburg.com
