Viennese Ball Season 2010

In January and February there the Carnival will be holding court in the Hofburg Vienna. The 17 traditional balls will draw 55,000 visitors to the imperial residence.The 40th Kaiserball will be the curtain raiser for the ball season on December 31 and will celebrate the jubilee year with "The Gipsy Baron". More than 2,500 guests from all over the world will be attending the glittering conclusion of 2009 and an the start into 2010.

Each traditional ball brings between 2,500 and 5,500 dance enthusiasts to the Hofburg Vienna. This includes large events such as the Kaffeesiederball (Coffeehouse Owners' Ball) and the Jägerball (Hunters' Ball), but also those of professional and interest group associations such as the Wiener Ärzteball (Viennese Physicians' Ball), the Ball der Offiziere (Officer's Ball) and the Hofburg Gala der Wiener Wirtschaft (Hofburg Gala of Viennese Commerce). Very popular arte also the student balls. At the BOKU-Ball (ball of the Viennese University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences) guests will dress in traditional costumes while at the Rudolfina Redoute guests have to arrive masked for this occasion.

The Viennese Ball Seaseon at the Hofburg Vienna is not only a typical Austrian tradition, it also has an substantial economic impact. In fact they deliver 10 million Euro stimulus to the Austrian economy. Please find more information about the detailed study here.
